Ok wait, the NES Tetris world record is now 40.26 million??! It took 2 hours and 20 minutes and the previous record was 29 million. At level 255, you hit “rebirth” and the pieces slow down to level 0 speeds again. Totally bonkers.

I love this, and I love when you post about it, and I haven't done anything close to a cursory search, but if there are any fellow Tetris-story lovers on KDO here who can link me (I know, I already said, I'm being lazy) to a story or video that'll explain: last update that I remember was that, at a certain level, the game just crashed? I thought we'd "beat" Tetris? Now it seems we've attained rebirth?
