This truly soothed my wrinkly brain. Though, on the one hand I’m delighted at the prospect that those of us with means can scratch this itch elsewhere and remind ourselves it’s worth building here too (which feels a lot like hope), it makes my heart hurt a little for all the folks who can’t escape this here-and-now confluence of anti-care, even just to recharge
Something that I noticed when I was in Japan vs vacationing anywhere else in the world. It's such a high trust society, it just feels relaxing even in the rush. You're not worried about pickpockets, someone taking advantage of you, etc. People are polite, you're not worried about people cutting in line, etc. It just takes such a mental load off that I don't find anywhere else.
