Why Lawrence of Arabia Still Looks Like a Billion Bucks

Even after 60+ years, Lawrence of Arabia is one of the best-looking films out there; this video explores why. I got to see Lawrence of Arabia on a big screen last fall and it was stunning — the colors, the amount of detail, the cinematography in general.

at the Castro in San Francisco on 70mm that famous scene of Omar Sharif approaching transports you to the place as much as any 3D, IMAX, VR headset could.

Was this part of the partnership between Fathom Entertainment and Turner Classic Movies? I got to see Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon on the big screen through that partnership and they were great! I missed Lawrence of Arabia due to some dumb scheduling conflict, though

Between the brownface, the Great White Man narrative, and zero female roles, this thing should be cringed right out of existence… but it's just so spectacular and well-acted (yes, even the brownface performances!) that it remains one of my very favorites. One of my major reasons for spending $absurd on an Apple Vision Pro would be to watch movies like this on the "big screen" any time I want. Heck, Lawrence would probably be first on the list.
