The Phoenician Scheme
Ok so I’ve watched the trailer for the new Wes Anderson movie, The Phoenician Scheme, a couple of times and I still don’t know what it’s actually about? But from the looks of things, it is more of the same for people who like that sort of thing, which is lucky for me.
Also, Michael Cera might be the most Wes Anderson-coded actor that’s never before been in a Wes Anderson movie.

Cera took the belt from Richard Ayoade subsequent to his appearance in Henry Sugar. The most Wes Anderson-coded actor to not appear in an Anderson movie is now Janelle Monae.
I signed in to just to give Richard Ayoade a plug, since he had not been in a proper Wes Anderson movie. Happy that Henry Sugar brought him into the Anderson Universe.
Iโm so happy to have Wes making things n our world. We are still lucky in many ways.
I'm in. The trailer takes my breath away.
I know she's her daughter so it makes sense but it is nonetheless jarring how similar Mia Threapleton's voice/timbre and accent sound to her mother's, Kate Winslet.
Definitely interested, but also wouldn't be surprised to learn it was actually one of those AI-generated trailers using his prior movies as the prompt.
Eh, I don't know about Wes Anderson anymore. Everything feels very carbon copied. I thought Asteroid City was all visuals and not a very good story. His visual style seems to override everything else. Moonrise Kingdom was the last one that really grabbed me in a visceral way.
