Are You Looking for Work? Are You Looking to Fill a Position?

Hey, it’s been awhile since we’ve done one of these. If you are out there looking for work, post a quick summary of what you do, what you’re looking for, and a link to your resume/portfolio/LinkedIn/contact info and maybe someone here will see it and want to hire you. Likewise, if you or your company/organization has job openings, post a brief description and a link to the opening(s). Full-time, freelance, remote-only, in-person, tech, non-tech, anything goes.

Since comments can only be left by members, if you’re not a member and are looking for work, send me your comment via email and I will post it for you. (If you are on the hiring side, you can afford to expense the membership fee to post a job posting. 😉 But if you’re a non-profit, email away!)

I don’t know what counts as spammy when I’m literally asking for ppl to post links, etc. but if it happens, I’ll delete spam listings.

Oh, and I’m happy to accept finders fees if your company hires someone from the comments here. Ok, let’s see what you’ve got.

Discourse is remote-first, async, good people, good pay, and good work/life balance. We're often hiring engineers to work with Rails & Ember.js on the core product or customer projects. Looks like we're currently hiring for an Infrastructure Engineer.

Matt G

Seems like a great place to work. I have strong background in network infrastructure and Linux system administration and let’s say a minor in development.

My resume is a little unconventional, but I’ll at least send an email. Would love to at least have a conversation.

Mark Reeves

I'm not a hiring manager, but our people person does read every application. Good cover letters go far, unconventional is welcome.

I've got a number of friends & colleagues who've been laid off from federal positions in digital humanities and science. I'm going to share this post with them, and would encourage others to do the same!

I wonder if DH work will shift to contracts with firms like Performant Software? Good people to follow.

We offer two core services—1) a free support line that people can call when they’re in the midst of psychedelic experiences or wanting to process past psychedelic experiences, and 2) a psychedelic coaching service, where people can hire a coach to receive long-term, scheduled support to prepare for and integrate psychedelic experiences. This is a unique opportunity to lead an impactful and cutting-edge organization! To apply, visit this link.

For the last 15+ years, I’ve been a creative television exec at both production companies and cable networks. Basically, either coming up with ideas for shows, developing them, and trying to sell them so I can produce them, or taking pitches, developing the best ones, and trying to get them on air so I can oversee them. Before that, I was an in-the-trenches producer, starting with a long run in entertainment news, and then moving on to more traditional unscripted stuff. The trick is that I’ve been working in tv/content long enough that I ended up with an SVP title, which, whenever I apply for a job that catches my eye. automatically makes me overqualified in the eyes of whatever AI filter media companies use to go through candidates.

At this point in my career, I’d love to find a role where I can take all of the skills and knowhow that I built up working in tv, and apply them in a new way. That, or maybe I can convince someone to look past any titles I may have earned and let me take a step back so I can crush roles that may not seem like a good fit on paper - news, sports, talk, etc.

I have worked extensively with a wide range of tech, creating everything from large relational databases to javascript-heavy UIs to fast infrastructure provisioning with various IaC tools, and I am confident in my ability to quickly learn and put new technologies to work, either solo or as part of a team.

I have worked for the last 5 years with an ever-changing student software development team at Berea College, managing the team, handling their infrastructure and release needs, and mentoring them in both the technical and process aspects of software development while they work on critical applications for the college. It is a rewarding position, but does not have much of a career path. I'm looking for a new challenge with a company where I can plant roots – I'm not a job-hopper by nature.

I am open to both purely technical or management positions, because while I love creating technical solutions myself, I also get immense satisfaction helping others on my team achieve great things.

I teach high school and always want to encourage people to consider it. Most every district is hiring this time of year, and with the current state of education many schools will consider hiring someone through an alternative or emergency certification. It looks like many Kottke Denizens (Kottkizens) could easily handle Math, Computer Science, or Business classes- all subjects in high demand.

I am more than happy to talk you through concerns or questions. It really is fulfilling in the best ways.

Tim Hare

I've thought about it, but my 40 year career in mainframe tech began when I was a junior in college, and the lack of a 4-year degree restricts me to substitute teaching in my state (Florida). We should have a 'work experience counts toward the degree' thing to allow people to get post-retirement teaching certificates

Hello! My name is Jack Pederson. I’m currently a 2nd Year college student studying Game Design and Development, looking for a summer co-op/internship focusing in experiential design and/or software programming. I’m very interested in how our perceptions of reality shift and meld based on what we engage and interact with, and I hope to be able to explore this in the future through my art.

Feel free to reach out to me via email - [email protected]
