Al Green’s Cover of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”

Al Green released a soulful cover of R.E.M’s “Everybody Hurts,” and it whips.

Of the song, Green said:

โ€œI could really feel the heaviness of the song, and I wanted to inject a little touch of hope and light into it. Thereโ€™s always a presence of light that can break through those times of darkness.โ€

Last year, Green released a version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day.” (via @allyourscreens.bsky.social)

Al Green's cover of The Bee Gees' "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" is also worth listening to. In my opinion, it surpasses the original.

Brought tears to my eyes. That was beautiful.
