Thanks, and Bye!
Jason will be back tomorrow, so this is my last post. Thanks for having me, it’s been a ton of fun! I would even describe it as life-changing, for me. I know I probably posted too much kid stuff, but if Jason ever has me back, I promise to try to be more expansive. I’m very much looking forward to hearing about his trip, should he want to write about it.
If you’d like, you can keep in touch with me through my newsletter, Instagram, or email. Thanks again for reading, and happy holidays!

Happy Holidays, Edith! It was fun seeing some new things and perspectives on the site!
Hi Edith! I really enjoyed your posts and your comics over the last couple of weeks! Happy holidays!
Thanks! It's been fun!
Your time here has broadened my mind - my wife asked me today why I was looking at knitting patterns :D
Thanks for posting, I've really enjoyed reading
Thanks Edith! It was great to have a fresh perspective. Happy holidays!
Thank you!
Thank you! You did a wonderful job stepping in. Happy holidays and best wishes for your second kid.
Agree that you did a wonderful job. Felt like you borrowed Jasonβs car, immediately made a hard left onto an unexpected dirt road, popped in a new mix tape and we were all fortunate to join you on the excursion.
lol, I'm going to carry this one with me!
Edith! Bravo! Thanks for keeping us entertained. Much appreciated.
Thank you for these lovely comments! They are so nice to read. :) β€οΈ
Thank yoh for bringing your perspective as a woman, a runner, a knitter, a mother - it's been wonderful!
And lover of choral Christmas music!
Edith -
I think you did a bang up job of filling in for Jason. I loved the completely different POV. It was a total delight.
I've been meaning to comment on individual posts but time has gotten away from me, so I'll just say here: thank you! I loved all your posts, but was especially touched by your cartoons related to parenting and on the process of trying to figure it all out as a middle-aged adult. I found the cartoon about hypnotherapy especially thought-provoking.
I don't know exactly how to say this, but having you lead the site + existence of comments, has really re-affirmed for me how special kottke.org is.
I've been reading for over twenty years, I think, and I have always slotted kottke into the category: "a site I read." Now I feel really connected to the fact that it's it's something more -- like, a place to be around the kinds of people that have the same restless curiosity and inquisitiveness I've always felt. You mentioned the power of "bringing unusual things together" in that hypnotherapy cartoon. I think that's part of it too.
In any case, thank you again for being a steward of whatever-this-is.
Thank you, Neel
Just adding in to echo others: thank you so much for your thoughtful guest editorship. I've started doing some comic-book-style journaling, inspired by you, and generally just enjoyed the change of pace and your terrific writing style. So: thanks!
Hi, Edith. Thanks for all your work, especially so close to your due date.
I teach English to high school seniors, and we're approaching the second semester, when motivation sometimes tends to plummet. So I usually incorporate a bit of drawing into the start of the term. I get a lot of kids who limit themselves to stick figures, but with Lynda Barry's help and now with your good example of daily drawing, I'm hopeful I can convince more of them to just draw their experience of life. It is ordinary but alive, rich in its way, like a good ramen broth.
This is so gratifying to hear! Thank you, Josh.
I also enjoyed your visit! Thanks for filling in for him.
Huge thanks to Edith for not just filling in but making the site her own while I was out. Delightful.
Super fun and super thanks!
I just finally got over myself and joined so that I could say "Thank you." Thank you Edith for your takeover, and thank you Jason for running this place.
Thank you, Edith!!

This is the name that'll be displayed next to comments you make on kottke.org; your email will not be displayed publicly. I'd encourage you to use your real name (or at least your first name and last initial) but you can also pick something that you go by when you participate in communities online. Choose something durable and reasonably unique (not "Me" or "anon"). Please don't change this often. No impersonation..
Note: I'm letting folks change their display names because the membership service that kottke.org uses collects full names and I thought some people might not want their names displayed publicly here. If it gets abused, I might disable this feature.
