“This family with young kids loves to entertain, so they walled off the basement completely, The Cask of Amontillado-style, to keep the children from coming up and asking for things or firing Nerf guns into the hostess’ famous bœuf bourguignon.” That’s from today’s installment of Evil Witches, a funny/useful parenting newsletter by Claire Zulkey.

Loved this! Great way to start my morning, having just been through two renos with a designer who doesn't get the idea of children or that things collect dust and I DO NOT want to dust them all the time. He of the high design "chandelier" made of slips of paper -- what a wonderful idea for your guests, as they can all leave you notes on the chandelier when they visit! And WHO, pray tell, is gonna dust those 100 slips of paper that will be a magnet for dust?
