How to Clean Mold From Bath Toys. In case anyone is in a similar boat, I tried the “put toys in the dishwasher” suggestion, but it didn’t work as well as I’d hoped (but it was pretty good), so I tried the “soak toys for hours in a tub with vinegar and water” suggestion. Also not an obvious success, but maybe I didn’t have enough vinegar. Or maybe I just let the toys get too moldy.

quick fyi--broken tag
We clean ours by filling them with hot water, shaking hard & then squirting into the sink. So much satisfying crud comes out!
act II, in which we remember that using brackets to write the "A" in "A TAG" in a text box (thereby making it an html element) is usually not a great idea.

thanks! was wondering about this recently. also, sorry if this wasn't the right forum for that message. still learning the ropes : )
Argh! So sorry about the broken link! Should be fixed now.
@Edith, dilute bleach solution will eradicate mold. Rinse well.
I was trying to avoid bleach, but it seems I can avoid it no longer. I will try this & I imagine I will regret dragging my feet. Thank you!
After one too many squirts in the face with water contaminated with mystery ick, I banned any bath toy that has a hole in it or an impossible-to-reach hollow.
Wise. It's surprising how many toys have tiny holes.

I'd encourage you to use your real name (or at least your first name and last initial) but you can also pick something that you go by when you participate in communities online. Choose something durable and reasonably unique (not "Me" or "anon"). Please don't change this often. No impersonation.
Note: I'm letting folks change their display names because the membership service that kottke.org uses collects full names and I thought some people might not want their names displayed publicly here. If it gets abused, I might disable this feature.
