Yesss, Run Lola Run is returning to theaters for its 25th anniversary. A 4K digital restoration will start showing on June 7. I loved this movie โ€” saw it in the theater when it came out but haven’t seen it in many years.

See also the Run Lola Run soundtrack, which I have also not listened to in a long, long time.

I recently made reference to the whole montage at the beginning where she runs through her options and lands on Papa. Papa. Papa.

Before a trip to Berlin several months ago I rewatched it for the first time in ages and was pleasantly surprised by how well it held up. There are elements that haven't aged as well, and it felt generally lower-budget than I remembered it as feeling. But it is still such a fun watch, and the quick Polaroid-snapshots-revealing-people's-lives sequences are just as great as I recalled them as being. And yeah, โค๏ธ that soundtrack!

Semi-related side story: I was eating in a fast-casual Chipotle-type place with a Berlin native and I was like "Wow, the soundtrack in here is nuts. It's lunchtime guys!" and she was like "Oh, hmm, yeah, I see what you mean. But I don't even hear it anymore." The INTENSE POUNDING TECHNO is so omnipresent in that city that it doesn't even register to locals. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Damn, I completely forgot this was set in Berlin and did not suggest my son watch it before studying there last Fall. Obviously forgot to watch it before we visited him there in November. We will have to watch it soon.

This was the first movie I rented from Netflix as a DVD and I never returned it.
