One recurrent theme in Becky Chambers' lovely Wayfarer novels---about found families among space crews---is the concept of "safe hands" being the highest compliment one can pay to another.
I don't know if it's Covid or just hitting middle age but I wish for this just in conversation. People who can not only listen but ask questions and draw out a subject and be interested are becoming nearly impossible to find. When it happens it's very much a feeling of being in good hands.
Related, my wife and I talk about finding people who are highly competent. In their professions, in their roles, whatever. I really admire and enjoy people who have put in the time to be very, very good at something.
Just loved the different ways you have interpreted being in good hands – proof that it’s a great concept.
