Walking the Earth

the Great Buddha and a group of adorably chapeaued schoolchildren at the Todai-ji Temple in Nara.

Hey folks. I’m going off the grid for a few days. Call it a spiritual retreat of sorts. I’ll be back soon; be well in the meantime.

The image is of the Great Buddha and a group of adorably chapeaued schoolchildren at the Todai-ji Temple in Nara.

Did you get pulled through the pillar there? It's neat!
(Also I am reminded of the conflicting feelings - I dislike the militarization of children/groups that the Japanese do with uniforms and hierarchy, but... I like that they get encouraging and funding to be traipsed around to all these places that can give a better understanding of their culture)

The scale of that temple, when viewed from a football field away, is just unreal. Screws with your visual perception.
