After Thoughts

What about Tadeusz Kościuszko? He has a bridge in NYC named after him, sure. But he basically single-handedly engineered the fortifications at West Point to protect the Hudson from being invaded by the British from Canada. The same fortification plans that Benedict Arnold was trying to deliver to the British when captured. He was later made a Brigadier General. He did more than any of the 8 people listed here.

Well all but one of these were not white men.

Kościuszko absolutely should be remembered as much as Lafayette, but I learned about them in grade school. (Maybe because of Virginia schools). In that vein, I'd add Rochambeau, having studied just on the other side of the peninsula from Yorktown.

I only knew about Crispus Attucks from my education.

I learned about Crispus Attucks in school, but I knew about Joseph Brant because I am a descendant. I enjoyed learning about the other figures.
