I love the colorful illustrative style of these adverts for the Queen City Printing Ink Company done by Augustus Jansson in the first decade of the 20th century.

A fun fact about me is that I'm a published expert on typographic legibility. Even if I weren't, The Inland Printer would still be an absolute TROVE of old ads, graphic designs, and typesetting. It's unbelievable. Page after page of gold. Such as this absolute gem, which I found without even trying (Volume 44, page 202). Thank you for posting!

These are exceptional. At first I thought they were playing cards. They’d make stylish card designs. Now I want a few decks to give as gifts.

The web site is worth a visit for sure. The more I browsed the more I wanted to see. The text on some is quite funny too.

As always thanks for the reference. I’d never have found that site on my own.

This is what Field Notes does for us today -- advertises their graphic design capabilities through something delightful & collectible. Love!
