Interesting thing about contextual fame: to the surprise of bookstores, Craig Mod has sold out every appearance on his book tour for Things Become Other Things. But he couldn’t get a single store in Portland or Boston to host a reading.

I know he lurks here (hi Craig ๐Ÿ‘‹) but the ding-dong (his word!) also just announced OTHER THING, a new book of photographs.
I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but sharing here so KDO readers know that Craig isn't just selling out his current book tour, he's also the kind of writer/photographer who drops a brand new, additional book right in the middle of said tour.
I don't know where he gets the time, but it's some damn impressive work.

I noticed that too! My willpower isn't as great as yours and it's already ordered. Impulse buys don't count when they're good stuff....right?

I have mine already. :)

Just for the record, that's the back of my head in the lower left of that photo. The last time I'd been at an author event at Booksmith was for Andrew Sean Greer, who is a literal Pulitzer Prize winner, and who attracted about the same size crowd. So yeah, Mr. Mod did alright.

OMG I was looking at his list of tour dates and saw he was in the Bay Area and then Seattle, but no Portland?! I wondered what the heck was up, so wild, and bummed I didn't get to see him during this tour.

I didn't know who this was at first. And at some point a light bulb went off and I realized, "Oh! This is the guy who walks all over Japan and ate Pizza Toast!" Great writing. Adventurous and simulataneously calming.
