I was enjoying this game until I realized all the images appear to be AI generated. Which made me very sad and then I stopped.

Yeah, that's how it went for me. I understand that acquiring unambiguous images is harder than a naive person would think, but it's not THAT hard. Some people just don't see any problems with AI.
