I had trouble with that for about the first episode, but then he kind of grew on me as a spy. I really liked Black Doves and want to rewatch it. There's quite a bit of silliness and people not asking questions of each other that would blow the whole thing apart, but the acting was good, the characters fun, and I just gave up on the premise very early on and enjoyed it for what it was.
He’s fantastic and the best character in the show (for me). His story and arc is great. Without him, I think the show would be much less nuanced and deep.
Brings extra menace to the hard stare when you go back to Paddington afterwards
