In Training: A Book of Bonsai Photos
I was reminded recently of Stephen Voss’s lovely book, In Training: a book of bonsai photos (Amazon). Voss has a number of bonsai photo prints for sale as well as some videos of bonsai on his blog. This one is of a tree called Goshin, which has been in training since 1953:

For anyone in the DC area, I highly recommend a visit to the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum located at the National Arboretum. There are trees there that have been in training for hundreds of years.
Stephen Voss is a kottke reader!! I worked with him (briefly) on a project in DC ten+ years ago, and then was delighted to see him in the "Who Are the People In Your Neighborhood" comments.
