Ta-Nehisi is my favorite writer (we even named our dog Coates after him) and after reading that profile I am a strange mix of excited yet apprehensive about reading this book. After 10/7 I started reading books and listening to interviews from different perspectives so that I could form some sort of independent perspective on the situation, and it was... rough.

From what Ta-Nehisi has said in the public recently, I know he's going to weave the history of Black Americans with the stories of Palestinians and Israel, and that extra layer of connection is going to be a gut punch for me.
