Frozen food delivery service Schwan’s will shutter in November. Founded in 1952 (and now called Yelloh 🙄), the company cited “economic & market headwinds”. When I was a kid in rural WI, a visit from “the Schwan’s man” was an *event*, let me tell you.

Why would they change the name? That's literally everything they had going for them.
To be a little more distinct from the food manufacturer called Schwans, that was purchased by a korean conglomerate. Also, because they were trying to "reintroduce" themselves to a new, younger audience that didn't know the company.
Oh the sense memories brought back by this post...
My dad's first job was a Schwan's delivery driver!
I have so many memories of being on my Grandparents farm in Northwestern North Dakota and enjoying Schwan’s ice cream treats or even the individual pizzas. When the truck would show up all of us grandkids would run out in awe of it all. Such great memories and a Minnesota company to boot.
"Yelloh" has to be the most unappetizing name for a food company I have heard. I'll instead keep my memories of getting orange push-pops as a kid when the truck came down the street.
The fact that Schwan's trucks penetrated the Ozarks is one reason I consider North Arkansas as part of the Southern Midwest.
I LIVED for the grasshopper pie as a kid in Colorado. What a bummer of a rebrand though.

This is the name that'll be displayed next to comments you make on kottke.org; your email will not be displayed publicly. I'd encourage you to use your real name (or at least your first name and last initial) but you can also pick something that you go by when you participate in communities online. Choose something durable and reasonably unique (not "Me" or "anon"). Please don't change this often. No impersonation..
Note: I'm letting folks change their display names because the membership service that kottke.org uses collects full names and I thought some people might not want their names displayed publicly here. If it gets abused, I might disable this feature.
If you feel like this comment goes against the grain of the community guidelines or is otherwise inappropriate, please let me know and I will take a look at it.
