It’s the wrong trousers, Gromit! And they’ve gone wrong! (Electric hiking pants?)

Between these and the new AI friend necklace, the perfect camping trip is just around the corner /sarcasm.

Arcteryx is finally set to realize their long term corporate goal of offering a pair of pants that costs over $1000

My reaction to this protoype was the same as my feelings about e-bikes: YES! Just as e-bikes enable or encourage someone who might not be capable unassisted to commute to work or take on longer, Big Day rides, mini-exoskeltons could offer the same expansion of physical capabilities to hikers.

I'm heading out to Glacier Nat'l park tomorrow. Most of the hikes are 13-15mi at elevation. I planned an itinerary with rest days between the longer hikes because these legs have some years on them, but I'd really prefer to be out there in it everyday.... if a mini-exoskelton offered that option, I'd be v. interested.

Anything that gets more people outdoors and hiking is great. I love it!

This is certainly interesting. I'm in favor of increasing accessibility. I would however be concerned about relying on technology/batteries to extend a hike only to have the tech fall short on capability and strand me miles from the trailhead.

Not only are you out of boost 7 miles from base, now you get to pack out your rechargeable pants by carrying a non-negligible about of weight the whole way. Hopefully their estimates of battery life are generous enough to mitigate that...
