This is unfortunately not a joke! I live in the area - North Yorkshire Council - and this is 'reet stupid' to use some Yorkshire dialect!
They were removed from a number of Australian place names ('toponyms') a long time ago

I only noticed this in relation to some specific locations a few years ago and was told that it was due to issues with linking different generations of mapping and communications software for emergency operations.
