Parrots can mimic; that doesn't make them creative or talented.

Generative AI inherently cannot come up with original ideas. All it can do is mimic what has been done before. It simply cannot create fiction that takes your breath away, unless it is utterly cribbing a piece of fiction you haven't read before.
