Looking forward to this one: my pal Nicola Twilley’s book is coming out in late June — Frostbite: How Refrigeration Changed Our Food, Our Planet, and Ourselves. Science + infrastructure? Yes, please.

Her podcast is one of my go-tos. It's smart and well researched and well presented.

This reminds me a bit of How We Got to Now, an excellent book that covers basic innovations that changed the world. I couldn't get enough so to Twilley’s book will be a great addition to my shelf. Heck, shelves. So many shelves…

Funny, I came to mention How We Got to Now as well, though I’m more familiar with the PBS series than the book. The episode (and chapter?) on Cold is one of the best.
Have you seen Secret Genius of Everyday Life? It’s a very similar show on the BBC that just finished a second season/series. Instantly another favorite.

Glass was my favorite chapter. It’s amazing how much it’s contributed to society from reading to microscopes. I’ll check the BBC series out, thanks for the recommendation!
