i vaguely recall attempting skittlebrau at a halloween party in dallas. for some reason, we put the skittles and the brau in a small skillet, heating them together over the stove. the simmering made the skittles dissolve completely in the beer, resulting in one of the purer forms of skittlebrau around. i cannot remember how it tasted.
If you leave Skittles in vodka for 24 hours (just put them in, don't heat or anything) they'll dissolve totally. Just what you need, a sugar buzz with your alcohol.
