Based entirely on first impressions I like the idea of the homepage archive feature, I wonder if the design implementation makes it clear and obvious enough though?

You'd think if they're appropriating a blog style that they could appropriate the blog drive for valid, accessible HTML... ah well.

I was freaked out as well. My eyes are going all over the place. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but the original one column with heavier type is a bit clearer, versus two side by side with the same information. Maybe it was organized by category it'd work better.

The headlines aren't dark or bold enough so that you can distinguish them. It's a big gray blob.
