Good new series of ads for Apple; "

Good new series of ads for Apple; "Get a Mac". I'm pretty sure the chap playing the PC is John Hodgman (author, Daily Show correspondent, This American Life commentator, former literary agent, monthly readings holder, hobo expert). Can anyone confirm? (via df)

Update: According to MacRumors, the Mac is played by Justin Long.

Update #2: Yep, seems to be Hodgman.

Donnie Jeter says:

Judging by his film history, that was Justin Long's best role so far.

I thought Justin Long was good in the television show "Ed."

Anyway, as a fan of John Hodgman, it's hard to imagine him as a PC. He's too intelligent and funny to be one.

And Justin speaks Japanese? He should have tried out for Memoirs of a Geisha. He would have made a pretty Geisha I think.

But back on topic - my favorite "Get a Mac" ad has got to be "Better".

Danny Cohen says:

Ed was an amazing show. I loved Justin's character, and I was happy when i saw him in Dodgeball knowing that he has found work, and now with these Apple ads. (despite his odd facial hair, but I am not one to talk). (Also, check out Stella for Michael Ian Black, also of Ed fame.)

Yeah, they should have chosen some kind of corrugated cardborded person to play the PC, however it does show that PCs are people too, but really nerdy slightly overweight ones who just aren't hip.

PC is definitely John Hodgman. It's interesting how much he resembles Bill Gates in these ads. That can't be a casting accident.

Hodgman says on his blog:

"Meanwhile, yes: I am in the television ad that you are seeing. It was a lot of fun to do, though it was very hard shooting on the polar ice caps."

I like how he uses his iPod to store his "slow jamz."

I like the ads, but I can't figure out why the PC can't date the Japanese woman. All the computers I've seen can upload pictures from a digital camera. Even cameras made by Japanese companies.

Justin Long is one of the stars of a new film by the producer of Napoleon Dynamite, called THE SASQUATCH DUMPLING GANG. The movie is kind of a tribute to kids' films like Goonies and The Legend of Boggy Creek, but with a sort of touch of ND's humor. (in other words, all the kids call each other "turdface" and "dumb-ass.") I saw it at a festival recently, and Long is really funny in it; probably the best thing about the film, actually.

Austin says:

Actually, they pretty much refrain from saying "ass" at all. And Justin Long's character was the best thing in that movie (besides his friend, Shirts), and that ain't saying much.
