I wish he more overtly addressed the misconceptions people also seem to have about the role of women in software development.

But isn't it actually better that he didn't? I mean, wouldn't a woman designer rather be credited for the (essential) contributions her design sense can make, than for being a woman?

(I am being naive here, in some sense, I know. But, still -- I think Ben's comments get to the real heart of the matter.)
