Interesting... Totally overlooked by the media is that with the Overture acquistion, Yahoo! is also getting the remains of AltaVista. Overtune bought AltaVista for $140M last February. This, along with Yahoo's acquistion of Inktomi last March, lead to some interesting questions as to what's going on at Yahoo! and their efforts to compete with Google. With the homegrown search solution, the Inktomi technology and now the AltaVista/Overtune technology, something has to get left on the cutting room floor. Or, perhaps, the better question is: "Does Yahoo! have a conherent search strategy to take on Google?"
